Work on Energy section has been completed, including some stone pitching on steep banks and resurfacing and reshaping on some sections - first comments are good and the trail is 'flowin'.
The Wall - Open
Diversion around the Tramway section where the temporary bridge is being replaced with a stone causeway after the last one was washed away a couple of years ago. Work should be completed in 3 weeks, the diversion sends riders straight to Nantybar from Rheilffodd.

there are diversions currently in Place due to harvesting operations on Heart Burn, Handy Andy and Grand Canyon.
There is also a rally on saturday the 14th August so additional parts of skyline will be closed for that day only.

International space station
We've been watching the International Space Station orbiting the earth. on clear nights you can see it clearly between about 10 and 11pm so if you see people on site looking at the sky and pointing it's probably the Space Station. It was so clear on Saturday that we even saw the Russian Soyuz cargo ship that had failed to dock on saturday morning, it's really amazing. there are 3 russians and 3 americans on board it orbits at 17,000 miles per hour and at around 24 miles from the surface of the earth.
Thursday night might be the last night its visible for a little while so at around 09:55pm look west. you are looking for a bright light moving at a constant speed it's different from planes as the light doesn't flash.
if you want to know when you can see it follow the link

Trail News
All afan trails are open and running well, despite the weather. The diversion on the 'Wall' has been cleared and on 'Whites Level' the land slip on Nrg has been sorted out. 'Penhydd' is still open and running well and 'Skyline' is all clear. Dion't forget to ride the 'Penhydd' trail before it closes. closure date is still set at 12th April. and when it re-opens next year it will be an all new trail.

Thunder snow at Skyline
It's the easter holidays although it feels more like christmas. we had an extremely unusual weather event today 'thunder snow' not only was it unusual because it was snowing in April but it was also thundering! the snow compresses the thunder clap so it can't be heard more than a mile away but intensifies it. the walls of the building rattled and stuff fell on the floor. it was absolutly amazing.
The weather remains a bit of an issue but at the mo it's too wet for the snow to settle. forecast is for a slight improvement over the weekend but it's going to be wet whatever.

Hi More trail news:
The Wall wil be closed Until Saturday 20th March, However there will be a diversion around Tramway and Nantybar for at least one more week as there is a Machine working to rectify a land slip on Tramway. The forestry commission has asked that riders please follow the diversion signs after Rhwicregan and rejoin the trail at Picadilly.
Weather isn't so great today low cloud and drizzle all day leading to heavy rain this afternoon, it doesn't look to good for tomorrow either which is a shame as i was going to go for a ride after work, but don't like getting wet.
Steve
P.S. our sale ends next week so get in while it's still there. We should have new stock in the shop for the week before easter, so keep an eye on the website www.skylinecycles.co.uk for news and some special promotions

*****WHITE'S LEVEL UPDATE*****
In the previous blog we mentioned that the Energy section of the White's Level was closed. One of the local riders has given us a bit more information, apparantly a tree has fallen accross the trail near the stream on the energy section. Apart from that the rest of the trail is running really fast. We'll let you know as soon as it's re-opened.

We went on a nightride last night around the whites trail and the energy section was closed (We'll update as soon as we get info). Loving the weather at the moment, the trail is running really fast and we're going out again with the boss (first time this year) for another ride tonight.

Another beautiful day, perfect for a spin around the penhydd trail before it closes for harvesting. it's due to close mid april 2010 (although this is not confirmed yet) and won't re-open for a year or more so get a go around this fantastic trail know. it will not be the same when it re-opens in 2011. Addditionally there is some work going on on the Wall over the next few weeks trying to smooth out some of the braking bumps and some general trail renovation. which should make it much more fun to ride. there will be a minimum of trail disruption as most is being done in the week but do look out for people working on the trails in the week there should be signs to warn you if you if you are approching one of the work gangs.
